People with cancer were reported to be nearly five times more likely to file for bankruptcy, with substantially lower credit scores.
Financial harm is not a peripheral side effect of cancer care. It can reshape housing, employment, family stability, and long-term recovery—and should therefore be treated as an outcome of care.
